Even if you do not want to respond to an individual immediately but the receipt will not allow you to wait. You’re putting yourself in danger when you delay the response because they will be able to see that you’ve read the message, and some individuals have to take advantage of it.

How Does It Work?
If you disable reading receipts for reads, person who sent it will not know that you have received their message. The message will show “Delivered” regardless of whether it’s been read or not.
Contrary to some messaging platforms that disable read receipts you receive does not affect the messages you receive. If the person you’re talking to has read receipts turned on at the end of their connection, then you’ll still be able to tell when they’ve received your message.
It is also important to note that the recipient will eventually discover that you’ve removed your receipts for reading. Because the message will display ‘Delivered’ beneath it, even after you have replied and reply, it’s difficult to overlook. Also, enabling read receipts once more won’t result in sending receipts for reading the previous message. This only works when the sender is able to deliver a fresh message, and you open it with Read Receipts option enabled.

Turn Off the Read Receipts
To disable the read receipts for iMessage on your iPhone, go to Settings. Settings app.
Scroll down, then select “Messages”.
